We got together with a 6,8 and 10 yr old, to build the fort. We picked a fort diagram then I called out the balls and stick formation. Once the kids got going, they picked up on it real quick, we assembled the model and they thoroughly enjoyed it. With the extra pieces, we decided to re-engineer the pieces for maximum capacity. The kids also came up with ideas for doorways to reduce interference. Each fort diagram went up quick and was easy to assemble. The fort kit was a gift for the six year old. Two kids were able to sit inside, but three was a crowd. Luckily I had read the reviews and figured it was worth picking up some extra kits for the other two. They could build together or separate forts. The first picture is one kit, using all the pieces (adults can get in and out with ease). The second fort is using two kits. It’s a little more castle-like and the kids can stand up in the tower. We spent the afternoon, building this as a family. I was the foreman/architect and gave instructions to the kids and dad. They all jumped in and were challenged but not overwhelmed. The structures are sturdy and in use (play space, sleep space). I highly recommend. Great way to work together as a team with the kids.

I have had the fort building kit for just about 3 weeks now. I bought it on a throwaway chance that my 4yr old would enjoy building his own fort instead of trashing the house trying to make a pillow/blanket fort with what was available. (Chairs, couch cushions, furniture, etc…)The Good:- Simple packaging, everything came in 2 plastic bags. There was a nylon bag that houses everything and made cleanup and storing great- The plastic rods are made of hard plastic and have some amount of give to them. We were a little rough but after taking everything down, I didn’t notice any warping or cracking of the plastic.- Plastic balls have a ton of holes in the which allows you get a little creative while building. They’re hard plastic too and will bounce if thrown.- Once connected, everything felt snug and secure. We made a tent style fort and we’re able to cover it with 3 blankets and there was very little give. The Bad:- Not really anything that was “bad” but taking everything apart was way harder than I imagined. Because of how snug everything fits, disconnecting everything was a bit of a chore. If you use all of the materials they give you, by the end your forearms are going to be sore from twisting. You may struggle as an adult in taking it apart and it’s totally ok.Conclusion:All in, the blanket fort kit was a great buy for my 4yr old and I. It’s given us hours of fun and provided a really cool bonding experience as we built fort after fort together. It has more than enough parts for you to get creative with what you build (I’ll be buying another set so we can go bigger). Everything was lightweight and easy to move even while assembled which makes getting it out of the way a vastly more enjoyable experience versus cleaning up the traditional pillow/blanket fort materials. If I could suggest one thing, it would be that you purchase one of those grip mats that you would get to take lids off jars. Once I bought one, this became super easy to manage.

This was a hit with my grandkids and their parents too! I gave it to my 5 year old grandson as a birthday gift. He loved it!He was joined in playing/building by cousins 7, 5 and 2 1/2. They had help building from their dads. The oldest child was most able to help constructing; they all enjoyed putting pieces together and helping. All of them enjoyed playing inside the structures they made – a fort they covered with a blanket and then a tall rocket-type structure. I’m excited to give a set to the next birthday child for his 8th birthday. He loves to build and construct. He’s very excited to have a set of his own!I think it’s a great STEM project. I think he and the five year olds will soon figure out how to build by themselves. It’s also a good parent- child project to put together. It’s quite sturdy, great quality and the pieces stay together.I think it’s a fun toy. Glad I found it!

I got this to entertain my 3 years daughter during this quarantine time. She likes a rocket and castle. When I saw this I thought it would be amazing to play w my daughter and build whatever she likes. We also able to put light blanket over the structure to make a play house too. The frame is not that sturdy so I used fitted sheets and it worked perfect. And we use a flash light inside of the castle we made, so it adds more playful moments. I think it help my daughter to develop imagination and motor skills since we build together. And it’s easy to assemble and take a part to store them away. Instructions comes with it but you can build more that what instruction shows. I am planning to buy one more set to gift my niece in Korea. Best thing about this, we can change structures anytime, so it will keep entertaining my daughter! Highly recommend.

We have owned the Fort Building Kit since July. Not only was it fun the first day, but we have brought it out over and over again, making all kinds of different structures. We have even taken it on vacation… twice! It stores easily in the bag that came with it, and it doesn’t take up much room in the car. It even offered entertainment when we had a few hours to wait in a hotel room… Just construct, then toss a sheet over the top, and voila… instant fort! The sticks fit snugly inside the connection pieces, so the youngest builders may need a little help inserting or disconnecting the pieces, but because they fit snugly, they stay together well, and the forts do not fall apart. Sheets or light blankets work the best to cover the structure. If the kids build a lanky structure without much support, a heavy blanket could pull it down, but this makes an excellent early-engineering lesson! One of the best things about the Obuby Fort Building Kit is that all four of my kids, including the teenagers, engage in the fun!

We got this for my son’s 6th birthday because he LOVEs building forts and constructing things in general. Though the kids have taken it out and had fun with it, we’ve noticed several challenges with the set.One is that because all the sticks are the same length, you are limited in what you can assemble. Only particular shapes — like squares and triangles of a specific size — work well. My kids like to get creative and they’ve had trouble making the things they want.Another challenge has been that the sticks can be hard to pull out of the balls, and my son has gotten frustrated trying to undo a connection that he’s made. This does improve with time as you get a feel for the toy, and adults shouldn’t have too much of an issue. But there are still tricky moments, especially when the kids are trying to disassemble it, and my son even jabbed himself trying to pull a stick out of a ball because he had to pull so hard. (again — I could pull it out, but it’s hard for them)Finally — the balls for this toy don’t have holes uniformly distributed all over them. As a result, you might put a stick into one hole of a ball, but then when you try to connect another stick to the same ball, there’s no convenient hole for the position you’re trying to achieve. So you end up having to reorient the balls a bunch of times to make them work for the several sticks that may be connecting to them. This adds a level of complication to the play that could be fun if the holes were clearly designed to accommodate the most popular shapes. However, it often feels like the holes just don’t work for designing even simple variations, like a triangular roof to a square structure, and you end up kind of bending the poles to fit.In short — if you just plan to use this to make basic squares and extended square/rectangle based structures — this toy works well except for the occasional difficulty pulling the poles out of the balls. If your kids are the type who will want to make rockets and boats and more diverse shapes, I would look around at other options.

I have to start out this review just saying I LOVE this product. I bought this for my two year old daughter, but if I’m being honest, I bought it for me too!Growing up I had a similar product that my parents and I used to build forts and structures. Hoping to recapture that nostalgia, I purchased this, I was not disappointed!Day one my daughter and I built multiple forts for her to play in, we both had a blast! We made some very basic structures but some complicated ones too. My daughter is constantly asking me to build a fort with her, so I would say mission accomplished in the fun department.I did find the rods were sometimes difficult to fit into the holes (due to being a tight fit), but I’d rather have it be tight than very loose and falling out constantly. The rods were also a little flimsy when it came to supporting a blanket over our fort, but a bed sheet worked just fine!Pros:VersatilePerfect for kids and adultsExpands creative thinkingCons:Rods can be tough to push into holeSummary:Great product and worth buying if your kids enjoying building.

Glow rods connect TOO well – kids built a fort we couldn’t dismantle! Had to promise ice cream to get our living room back.

Glow forts survived backyard rainstorms! Rods connect easily but the glow effect only lasts about 30 minutes after “charging”.

Glow forts were the hit of our summer camping trip! Kids built a star-lit castle while adults appreciated the STEM angle. Rods connect easier than other brands we’ve tried.

My son loves to build so I bought 3 of these to make big forts. It’s great for kids and teaches them good problem solving skills. I myself turn back into a kid at times. I just wish the holes were better machined. Some sticks pop right out and others take the Incredable Hulk to pull out. For this reason I think these are a bit pricey but still a lot of fun with my boy.
